Beat the Gators, Fall to the Rain

No. 8 USC men's tennis took out No. 20 Florida, 4-3, on Saturday in Westwood, but could not complete the weekend sweep in the Pac-12/SEC Showdown because Sunday's match against Georgia was washed away by the rain. Nevertheless, the Trojans will happily collect the comeback victory over the Gators, improving to 3-0 on the season.

Peter Smith's young team has relied on its depth to stay unbeaten this season, defeating Florida with wins at the third, fourth and sixth singles slots as well as the doubles point. Freshman Jake DeVine played the role of hero, clinching the dual match with a 7-6 (6), 7-5, win at No. 3.

USC is back at Marks Stadium this weekend for a Saturday doubleheader against Grand Canyon (10 a.m.) and Loyola Marymount (2 p.m.).
