USC women's water polo goalie Amanda Longan earned her second consecutive MPSF Newcomer of the Week award on Tuesday after a career-best performance. The freshman only played for three periods against No. 25 Cal State Northridge, but managed to set an early career high with 13 saves, while only sacrificing three goals.
The Women of Troy are off to a perfect 7-0 start with some crucial wins over top teams like crosstown rival UCLA. Longan's held her ground in the net, averaging 8.9 saves and just 3.7 goals against per game in her five appearances. The freshman will look to garner more experience in the net to add on to her impressive start this Saturday and Sunday at the UCI Invitational.
