No. 22 USC men's basketball suffered its first loss of the season at the hands of the No. 21 Oregon Ducks last night.
The Ducks, fresh off taking down previously undefeated UCLA, topped USC, 84-61, at Matthew Knight Arena. The loss stopped the Trojans from matching their 16-0 start in 1971, as they now stand at 14-1 on the season and 1-1 in conference play.
Oregon's Dillon Brooks and Dylan Ennis contributed 48 of Oregon's 84 points, while freshman De'Anthony Melton led USC with 13. Fellow freshman Jonah Mathews followed that up with 11 points.
Oregon was hot from the floor all night, but USC kept it close early by making 11 of 11 free throw attempts in the first half. In the end, the Trojans couldn't hang with Oregon's 46.4 clip from the field. USC made a season-low 31.0 percent of its shots.
Next up for the Trojans is a home stand against the Bay Area teams. USC faces Stanford on Thursday at 8 p.m. and Cal on Sunday at 7 p.m. Click here for tickets!
