The Trojans and the Cowboys went on competing runs throughout the game, as momentum swung wildly back and forth. McLaughlin, who played 43 minutes without a single turnover, was the steadying force for USC. He posted 22 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists, and was named the MVP of the tournament.
USC's next two biggest contributors were freshmen Jonah Mathews and De'Anthony Melton. Mathews dropped a career-high 26 points, including a three-pointer to tie the game up with less than three minutes to go in OT. He also notched 6 steals.
Melton added 16 points and 8 rebounds. In his second career start, he had a chance to ice the game at the free throw line, but missed the front end of a one-and-one just before the end of regulation, allowing Wyoming to send the game to overtime with a three.
Wyoming used the three-ball to keep the game close all night, connecting on 13 when all was said and done. The Trojans shot 50 pct from the field, including their 8 made threes.
USC now enters conference play as one of six remaining undefeated teams in the nation. That unblemished record will be put to the test on Wednesday at Oregon State.
