As has been the case nearly every game this season, the No. 23 Trojans got off to a slow start. They finally took the lead just before the end of the first half, and didn't look back.
Forward Chimezie Metu scored in double-digits before halftime, and finished up with 17 points. Captain Jordan McLaughlin added 16, plus 9 assists, to help the Trojans go undefeated in their non-conference home slate.
Freshman Nick Rakocevic got in foul trouble early, so Charles Buggs came off the bench and had his best game as a Trojan so far. He went 3-of-4 from the field for 9 points in 23 minutes. USC head coach Andy Enfield said Buggs provided a jolt of energy to the team.

Overall, the Trojans outshot the Big Red, 48.4 pct to 40.9 pct, and racked up 10 blocks to create extra possessions for themselves.
Next up for the Trojans is a bout with Missouri State at the Orleans Arean in Las Vegas on Thursday.
