Despite a nearly even shooting percentage in the first half, USC surged to a 36-18 lead over the Anteaters at the break. The Trojans' staunch defense gave them the clear advantage, as they finished the game with 17 steals (their second-most of the season) and 41 points off turnovers, and outrebounded UCI, 43-29.
The 4th quarter of yesterday's game was USC's highest-scoring quarter all season. Already leading by 18 points, the Trojans exploded for 34 points in the 4th, cementing an 83-45 win.
Four Trojans finished in double figures, with Aliyah Mazyck (pictured) leading the way. The sophomore had 16 points on a career-high 4 three-pointers, while Sadie Edwards added 15, Kristen Simon posted 11 and Courtney Jaco finished with 10. Simon is averaging a double-double this season, with 15.5 points and 10.1 rebounds per game.
With the win, USC takes a 9-2 record into Pac-12 play. Colorado comes to town on Dec. 30, and the Women of Troy kick off the New Year by hosting Utah on Jan. 1. Click here for tickets!
