USC OT and team captain Zach Banner was named a Senior CLASS Award First Team All-American today, the organization announced.
The Senior CLASS Award celebrates senior student-athletes who demonstrate excellence in the classroom, the community, in character and in competition.
Banner received his Bachelor's degree in communication last year and is currently working on a second degree in sociology. He is interested in attending law school and pursuing entertainment law in the future.
Throughout his career at USC, Banner has consistently demonstrated a commitment to the community in Los Angeles and back home in Tacoma, WA. This season, he lent his voice to the College Football Playoff Extra Yard for Teachers foundation by recording a video message and by speaking to local elementary schoolers about the importance of education, before helping USC's Trojan Outreach program present a local teacher with a $10,000 check.
The team captain led an offensive line unit that only allowed 11 sacks, which ranked No. 6 in the nation this year. He was named a CollegeSportsMadness.com First Team All-American and recently accepted an invitation to the Reese's Senior Bowl.
Banner suits up in Cardinal & Gold for the last time on Jan. 2 at the 103rd Annual Rose Bowl Game.
