The Bears proved to be the only thorn in USC's side all season. The Trojans finished the year 24-2, with their only two losses coming to Cal. Today, in USC's 12th consecutive NCAA title appearance, the Trojans led until the fourth quarter, when the hungry Bears tied it up and pushed the game to overtime.
USC hadn't played an OT game all season, and Cal outscored the Trojans, 4-1, in the two extra time frames to take home the trophy. The Bears sent a barrage of shots McQuin Baron's way, as the junior goalie racked up a season-high 19 saves but also allowed a season-high 11 goals.
Baron, Nick Bell and Marin Dasic earned All-Tournament second team honors, while USC's Blake and Lachlan Edwards earned first team honors. Blake finished the season with a team-high 42 goals, including one today. Baron finished the season with 247 saves, tied for the sixth-most in a single season in USC history.
