USC women's basketball beat Long Beach State, 82-74, last night, in its first home game since winning the Great Alaska Shootout.

A pair of freshmen were key in securing the victory, as Minyon Moore led all scorers with 23 points and Valerie Higgins added 10 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Aside from the two young guns, junior Kristen Simon contributed her third straight double-double, with 19 points and 15 rebounds. Through six games, Simon leads the team with 14.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game, while Moore leads the team in assists (5.2 per game) and steals (2.8 per game).
The Trojans were up 7 at halftime, but pulled away in the third quarter. Using a 17-0 run, USC went up 58-43. The 49ers cut into the big lead, but the Trojans secured an 8-point win in the end.
Next up for USC is a 9 a.m. PT tilt with Texas A&M in College Station on Wednesday.
