Recently, USC president C.L. Max Nikias signed the NCAA Pledge to Promote Diversity and Gender Equity in Intercollegiate Athletics.
Now, several departments within athletics are being trained in "Safe Zone" programming, which helps participants stay informed of LGBTQ issues and improve their support to the LGBTQ community. Additionally, USC Athletics staff members were encouraged to wear shirts to show support for LGBTQ students and student-athletes.
Next month, USC's Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism will host a USC LGBTQ Sports Conference. One panel will feature administration, coaches, players, and staff discussing how USC Athletics is creating an inclusive environment for all Trojans.
