Head coach Steve Sarkisian surprised walk-ons Christian Tober and Alex Wood in a team meeting this morning with the announcement that they earned their first USC scholarships. Also, WR George Katrib had his scholarship renewed for another year.
Tober was the star of the Spring Game, and he has been pushing for playing time as a slot receiver. Wood won the placekicking battle out of Fall Camp, and he will handle all kicking duties on Saturday. Katrib is an invaluable special teamer for the Trojans.
"It was a great atmosphere in the team meeting," said Sarkisian. "I think the players on the team recognize guys that work hard and earn it, and definitely all three of those guys have done that."
