USC G Donnie Hickman died on Saturday, June 27 of cancer in Glendale, AZ at the age of 60. The two-year Trojan starter was a part of the 1974 National Championship team and was the USC Offensive Player of the Year his senior season in 1976.
Hickman was drafted in the fifth round of the 1977 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Rams before playing with the Washington Redskins and Detroit Lions for the 1978 season. After playing in the CFL and USFL for four seasons, Hickman hung up his cleats and picked up a whistle, coaching at Glendale and Mesa community colleges in Arizona while also working as a youth counselor.
A funeral will be held on July 8 at 11 a.m. at Christ's Church of Flagstaff in Flagstaff, Arizona.
