Soon, a different kind of football will be drawing crowds to Exposition Park. The expansion Los Angeles Football Club announced plans on Monday to construct a soccer stadium on the site of the Sports Arena that will be ready to debut in 2018.

The proposed plan for the venue would make it the most expensive privately financed soccer stadium in the country, priced at an estimated $250 million. In addition to a 22,000-seat stadium, the complex would include restaurants, a conference center and a soccer museum.
USC women's soccer head coach Keidane McAlpine is excited to welcome the Trojans' new neighbors and looking forward to the increased attention that will be paid to the beautiful game.
