No. 3 USC women's water polo has played to its ranking all season. The Women of Troy are 21-0 against teams ranked behind them, but a combined 0-3 versus No. 2 UCLA and No. 1 Stanford.
Winners of four national championships, including the 2013 NCAA title, the program knows that what's past is merely prologue and the story of this season will be written starting now. The Trojans begin the postseason march at the MPSF Championships this weekend in Tempe, stating a simple goal to qualify for the NCAA Championships (May 8-10 in Palo Alto).
USC will open the conference tournament against No. 8 San Jose State (Friday at 12:30 p.m.), having already beaten them 21-6 just 11 days ago. Another win would setup another rematch with UCLA, and Stanford likely looms in the final, so the Trojans know the steps to the top of the mountain this season.
