USC women's lacrosse saw its four-game winning streak finally snap against No. 15 Stanford last weekend, but the Trojans have already turned their attention to making a strong finish to the regular season on Saturday.
With a 12-6 victory over USC, Stanford has almost secured the regular season MPSF conference title, pending two final regular season games this week. The Trojans are a lock for at least second - no matter the outcome of Saturday's game against San Diego State (7 p.m.) - as they possess the tiebreaker over Denver, the team currently in third.
In the program's first three years, USC has steadily improved its position within the conference. In 2013, the Women of Troy finished fourth in conference, while in 2013, they finished in a three-way tie for third. This year, the Trojans are looking to capitalize on a strong regular season campaign, using the momentum to propel them toward a potential NCAA bid.
The Women of Troy will have a quarterfinal bye in the MPSF tournament which begins on April 30 in Denver. The MPSF tournament champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships, and there is an outside chance that a second MPSF team could receive a bid as well.
