No. 7 USC women's tennis has a battle-tested senior core at the top of the lineup, but the Women of Troy are depending on freshmen to carry the bottom half. The kids did more than alright this weekend, keying victories over No. 3 Cal and No. 10 Stanford, led by Meredith Xepoleas who was named Pac-12 Player of the Week for the first time in her young career.

The Trojans needed every point to overcome the Bears on Saturday with freshmen Madison Westby and Gabby Smith winning in doubles, and then Smith adding another point in singles. The dual match came down to Xepoleas on Court 6 who came through in the clutch 7-6 (6), 2-6, 6-3.
On Sunday against the Cardinal, the freshmen were dominant as Westby, Smith and Xepoleas all won in straight sets. The trio combined to lose just nine games.
