No. 8 USC baseball stormed out of the box this season, steamrolling 15 of the first 16 opponents, but adversity finally hit as the Trojans dropped four of the next six. If USC wants to achieve its postseason goals, fighting off extended losing streaks will be the key, and the Trojans responded brilliantly this weekend, winning back-to-back games by a combined score of 22-2.

USC ended up winning the series at Cal Poly to move to 19-5 on the season. The Trojans get a short respite at home against Pepperdine (Tuesday at 6 p.m.) before embarking on a six-game conference road trip through Washington (March 27-29) and Arizona (April 2-4).

Catcher Garrett Stubbs leads the team with a .430 batting average.
