Last season, the USC baseball team finished with a winning record for the first time in nine years, and as 2015 gets underway, the Trojans are raising their expectations even higher.

In 2013, the team featured 17 freshmen and at points in the last two seasons the Trojans' youth has hindered them. Now, the squad boasts 19 upperclassmen including seven returning starting position players and two starting pitchers.
"We knew a couple years ago when we had 17 freshmen that it was going to be a big transition year for them and that we were going to take our lumps," explained head coach Dan Hubbs. "But last year - especially in the second half of the season - you really saw that this team started to take a step forward in a couple different ways."
Hubbs is especially excited about his pitching staff which features returning starters Kyle Davis, Kyle Twomey and Brent Wheatley in addition to several other returning pitchers and four freshmen. The staff and the team's defense are expected to be USC's greatest strength in the 2015 campaign.
D1Baseball.com projects that the Trojans will make it to the NCAA Tournament in June, and the Trojans are set on accomplishing just that as their season kicks off this Friday (February 13) vs. Towson. The game will be played at Dedeaux Field at 6 p.m. PT.
