The USC women's lacrosse team is kicking off its third season exactly how it began its debut season in 2013 by hosting the No. 5 ranked Northwestern Wildcats at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum this Saturday at 3:00p.m. The matchup against the Wildcats is always a special one. In the Women of Troy's historic first game in 2013, the seven-time NCAA champions defeated USC 18-5. Last year, the two squads faced off at classic Wrigley Field in Chicago with the Wildcats winning 12-7. USC returned to the Coliseum last year to host its Pac-12 rival, the Stanford Cardinal, and walked away with its first-ever victory over a ranked opponent defeating the Cardinal 11-10.
The Women of Troy are still a very young team in just their third year as a program, but they do return four All-MPSF selections including juniors Caroline de Lyra, Amanda Johansen, Courtney Tarleton and sophomore Nina Kelty. USC also dominated the women's lacrosse recruiting season finishing with the No. 5 ranked class for 2015 and a No. 3 preseason MPSF ranking. Head coach Lindsey Munday and the rest of the coaching staff expect these freshman to make an immediate impact for the Women of Troy beginning on Saturday.
