USC women's swimming made a splash at last weekend's Texas Invitational in Austin, winning nine events in three days led by freshman Kirsten Vose, winner of two individual events and two relays, and junior Chelsea Chenault, who won three events and finished second in another. A host of Trojans punched their tickets to NCAAs with A cut times as the program reaches the midway point of the season.
On day two of competition, Chenault clinched USC's first victory, winning the 500y free in 4:39.94. The women's 400y medley relay would follow in victorious fashion, with the team of Hannah Weiss, Vose, Lucy Worrall and Anika Apostalon finishing first in 3:30.62, just .8 seconds off of the USC record.
Day three featured three Trojan women taking the No. 1 spot in their respective races. Chenault took home her second individual victory with a time of 1:44.62 in the 200y free while Vose secured her first individual win in the 100y breast. Weiss used the momentum from her team's 400y medley relay the night before to finish first in the 100y back.
The Women of Troy would close out the invite in stride, winning three individual events in back-to-back days. Vose placed first in the 200y breast, Apostalon won the 100y free and Elizabeth Stinson championed the 1650y free in 16:07.34.
Men's and women's swimming each now take a one month break before hosting a dual meet against Wisconsin on January 12 at 2 p.m. PT.
