USC women's volleyball's tremendous season came to a crushing end on Saturday night in San Diego when the Women of Troy were denied a spot in the NCAA Final Four by Kansas. Down two sets, the Trojans stormed back to even the match and take a 13-9 lead in the fifth only to lose the last six points, the set and the match.

"We're proud of this team, for the season we've had and the way they've represented the university," said head coach Mick Haley in the post-match press conference. "I told the team that they fought like Trojans and I really meant that. We weren't good tonight, but we competed, and we did everything we could to win. We came up short in the end. I have no answers for that so you'll have to write what you saw. I guess that will be the way that it will be."
Ultimately, USC fell to Kansas, 25-18, 25-21, 22-25, 19-25, 15-13, ending the season with a 33-3 record. The Women of Troy's comeback was unsurprisingly led by Samantha Bricio, who started slowly but recovered to finish her final match with 25 kills and 12 digs.
"I think we got a little bit more comfortable after the first two sets," said Bricio about her team's slow start. "It took awhile. I think we just got comfortable."
