No. 16 USC women's soccer clinched second place in the Pac-12 standings with a win over No. 20 Cal on Sunday in Berkeley.
A single goal scored by sophomore midfielder Sydney Sladek and a five-save shutout by redshirt junior goalkeeper Sammy Jo Prudhomme decided the match. The win marks the first time the Trojans have topped the Bears since 2010, and secured the team's highest finish in the conference since 2007 when USC went on to win the national championship.
The Women of Troy lost to No. 4 Stanford, the Pac-12 champions, on Thursday, failing to net an equalizer to the sole Cardinal goal scored in the 62nd minute.
The Trojans will play in Bruin territory for their final regular season game of the season at 6 p.m. PT on Friday, November 6. The Crosstown Cup game will be aired live on Pac-12 Networks.
