Texeira, Hoey Lead USC At U.S. Collegiate Second Round

Sophomore Jonah Texeira carded a 3-under 69 while junior Rico Hoey posted his second straight 2-under 70 to lead the No. 7 USC men's golf team to a 1-under second round on Day 2 of the U.S. Collegiate Championship at The Golf Club of Georgia's Lakeside Course in Alpaharetta, Ga., on Saturday (Oct. 17).
The Trojans, after 36 holes, have combined for a 9-over 585 (298-287) to tie for 10th, 16 back first.
Texeira had six birdies during his second round to get to 2-under 142 (73-69), tied for 11th. He was 1-under going out and 3-under coming home, finishing with three birdies over his final four holes for his third round in the 60s in his last four outings.
Hoey, looking for his third straight top 20 to start the season and second in the top 10, sits at 4-under 140 (70-70), tied for fifth. He got hot at the turn with three birdies between 9 and 12 and finished with an eagle on 18.
Sophomore Sean Crocker finished the second round at 5-over 149 (77-72), tied for 50th, freshman Justin Suh is 10-over 154 (78-76), tied for 80th, and senior Andrew Levitt finished the second round at 11-over 155 (78-77), tied for 82nd.
Action concludes Sunday. USC tees off at 12:25 p.m. ET.
