The USC men's water polo team edged out No. 6 UC Santa Barbara at home on Sunday courtesy of two clutch goals by sophomore Grant Stein (pictured) to continue its tremendous first half of the 2015 season. With Sunday's victory, the No. 2 ranked Trojans maintained their perfect MPSF record (now 5-0) and improved to 17-2 overall.

The Trojans jumped on the board early, but two quick goals from the Gauchos gave UCSB a 2-1 lead before Lachlan Edwards tied things up for USC. Stein broke this tie before halftime but the Gauchos came out in the third quarter to tie things up at three. Again, Stein put the Trojans ahead with a 4-3 lead, propelling USC to pull away from the Gauchos courtesy of two more goals from Blake Edwards who finished with a hat trick. However, the game that kept going back and forth continued to provide some drama late in the fourth as the Gauchos responded with two quick goals to give the Trojans just a one-goal lead that they battled to hold onto until the clock struck zero.
Next up for the men's water polo team is a road match against Pacific at Noon on Saturday, October 25. The No. 2 ranked Trojans will look to remain undefeated in MPSF play as they take on the Tigers for the first time this season.
