USC collected two more NCAA crowns this year with men's water polo and men's tennis continuing dominant reigns over their respective sports. Men's water polo has now won six consecutive NCAA team titles, while men's tennis came through for the fifth time in six years clinching the 100th NCAA championship in USC history.
Jovan Vavic's dynasty always seems to be dangling on the precipice, but the Trojans thrive in drama creating predictable results in the most unpredictable fashion. In the 2013 NCAA title match against Pacific, USC closed a two-goal gap in the final period to force overtime, which ended in storybook fashion thanks to Nikola Vavic (pictured) whose championship-winning goal was the last of his record-setting career.Peter Smith had to do it without Steve Johnson and Daniel Nguyen this time. The four-time champions will never be replaced, but men's tennis found the winning formula again after a one-year hiatus. Depth and experience captured the crown as the Trojans overcame Oklahoma to hit USC's all-time century mark.
In the last three years, USC has won seven national championships, which ties Florida for the most by any school. Along with the two titles this campaign, 10 other Trojan teams finished in the national Top 10.
Women's golf (No. 2 NCAA), women's water polo (No. 3 NCAA), women's sand volleyball (No. 3 AVCA), men's track and field (T-No.4 NCAA), women's swimming and diving (No. 5 NCAA), women's volleyball (No. 5 NCAA), men's swimming and diving (No. 8 NCAA), men's volleyball (No. 9 AVCA), women's tennis (T-No. 10 NCAA) and women's rowing (No. 10 NCAA) all had accomplished seasons. Football and women's track and field also finished inside the Top 25.
