Wittek, who started two games for the Trojans in his career, was extremely positive about his USC experience despite his decision to leave. He has not yet decided where he will transfer.
"I've learned a lot since I've been here," Wittek told the LA Times. "I've been through a lot and USC has helped me become the man I am today and there is no better place. The Trojan family is amazing.
"My journey has been a little bit different -- it didn't work out with the traditional picture-perfect ending, but I definitely look back with a lot of positive feelings."
Wittek was in close consultation with head coach Steve Sarkisian on the decision to transfer. "We thank Max for his contributions to Trojan football and wish him the best in the future," said Sarkisian.
