USC punter Kris Albarado was named Pac-12 Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance against Utah State.
Thanks primarily to the pinpoint punting of Albarado, in his first year handling the punting duties for USC, Utah State's average starting field position was its own 21-yard line and the Aggies were only able to advance far enough to penetrate USC territory on 7 of their 13 drives. Five of Albarado's 7 punts pinned the Aggies within the 20-yard line, including 2 inside the 5-yard line. He averaged 35.4 yards on his placement punts.
On the year, the sophomore is averaging 40.3 yards on 23 boots, with more than half (12) pinning opponents within the 20. He has had a pair of punts travel over 50 yards, including a best of 64 yards.
