Soccer's Opening Statement

USC women's soccer got the new athletics' season off to a winning start with a pair of resounding victories en route to the USD Tournament title. The Women of Troy defeated No. 11 San Diego State 4-1 on Friday, and then knocked off host San Diego 4-2 on Sunday.

The goal scoring barrage was led by senior Elizabeth Eddy (pictured), named the Pac-12 Player of the Week for bagging a brace in the season opener and adding another in game two. Sophomore Jamie Fink and freshman Tanya Samarzich had a pair of goals each on the weekend.

The Women of Troy open the home schedule against Cal State Northridge on Friday, August 30, at 3 p.m. on McAlister Field.
