- The Trojans are starting to "scale back" the intensity of practice in an effort to get players healthy for game day.
- Lane Kiffin did not provide the media any more clarity in terms of the quarterback picture. He pointedly stated that he "anticipates" playing both Cody Kessler and Max Wittek, but he made no guarantees. He also said he is unlikely to divide the reps by alternating series or quarters. He also did not announce who would get the first series.
- At cornerback, Kiffin separated three players from the pack: Torin Harris, Kevon Seymour and Anthony Brown. "Torin seems to be at full strength right now," Kiffin said. "All three of those guys will play a lot."
- He also expects all the safeties to play not only on special teams but in the secondary assuming Dion Bailey is healthy enough to go. The unit also includes Josh Shaw, Demetrius Wright, Gerald Bowman, and true freshmen Su'a Cravens and Leon McQuay.
- Cravens, who said he is "100% healthy" knows he will be excited, but he is hoping to rise to the stage of his first college game. "I didn't come to USC to sit on the bench. I came to USC to fight for a starting job," said Cravens, who had a brother and sister go to Hawaii. "I came to USC to try to get on the field and that's what I am going to try to do."
- Clancy Pendergast singled out Devon Kennard as the most impressive performer of Fall Camp. "If one guy really jumped out, it'd be Devon Kennard," Pendergast said. "He's an energizer bunny out there. He's always very active. The position he is playing (Sam linebacker)...is really going to allow him to showcase his skill."
- Kennard returned the compliment to his new defensive coordinator. "He is an awesome coach, and it is so exciting to play in this scheme and in this defense," Kennard said about Pendergast. "He demands a lot of us every day, and I have become a better player through it."
- Pendergast will call the defensive plays from the sideline as he has done throughout his career. "I like to be able to get the calls in quickly," he said. "If I can see they are going no-huddle or they are speeding up, I don't have to call it in so somebody else can say it. I can go relatively fast that way. I pretty much know [the defense] without a playbook, so I can make adjustments on the field at any three of the levels of the defense."
- The 2013 team captains will be announced Monday.
