Nine Trojans were selected by their countries to compete at the World University Games in Russia: Ray Sarmiento (MTEN), Michael Grant (MTEN), Eric Johnson (MTEN), Jonny Wang (MTEN), Kaitlyn Christian (WTEN), Sabrina Santamaria (WTEN), Gabriella DeSimone (WTEN), Ellie Yates (WTEN) and Cassie Harberts (WBB).
Plus, Peter Smith (MTEN), Krzysztof Kwinta (MTEN) and West Nott (WTEN) will serve as coaches at the World University Games. Meanwhile, Jovan Vavic will continue in his role as the U.S. Men's National Team interim head coach at the FINA World Championships with trusted assistant Marko Pintaric.
USC women's volleyball head coach Mick Haley will lead the Pac-12 All-Star Tour of China featuring Natalie Hagglund and Hayley Crone. As for men's volleyball, Micah Christenson (pictured) will play for the U.S. Men's Junior National Training Team, and on the sand, Kirby Burnham will participate in the FIVB Beach Volleyball U23 World Championship.
Finally, MPSF Player of the Year Monica Vavic will celebrate the women's water polo national championship with her first call-up the U.S. National Team.
