In a preseason ranking of college football's top 25 players, The Sporting News has ranked Marqise Lee at No. 2 behind Texas A&M's Johnny Manziel. According to SN the ranking is based on more than just draft stock, but on college performance and NFL potential as well. Makers of the list pointed to Lee's versatility and play-making ability as reasons for his top ranking.
The junior wide receiver also recently earned a spot on Athlon Sports' Pac-12 Football 2013 All-Conference Team along with a handful of teammates. Lee made first team offense at wide receiver and first team specialist as a kick returner.
Outside linebacker Morgan Breslin, defensive tackle Leonard Williams, and safety-linebacker Dion Bailey also earned first team honors on the defensive side. Silas Redd and Max Tuerk made the list for second team offense at tailback and offensive guard, respectively, while defensive end George Uko and linebacker Hayes Pullard earned spots on the second team defense. USC ranked third in the conference for players making first, second, or third team behind Oregon and Stanford.
