The 2013 USC women's volleyball schedule has been announced and features the Trojans playing in 18 televised games, six of which are nationally televised. Two games will be broadcast on ESPNU, including the team's home opener against UC Irvine on September 18 at 7 p.m. and the conference opener against UCLA on September 25 at 7 p.m. Click here for the complete 2013 schedule breakdown.
The Women of Troy open their season with three non-conference tournaments in Indiana, Wisconsin, and San Diego. The Trojans play for two weeks before taking the court for their first game at the Galen Center. October will be tough for the Trojans as Stanford and California both visit Los Angeles before the team plays back to back weekends on the road in Oregon and Arizona. All nine games in October will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Networks either regionally or nationally.
Head coach Mick Haley says he is excited for his team to play the upcoming season on such a big stage, and noted the popularity of women's volleyball around the country.
"I think the Pac-12 has done an amazing job of putting women's volleyball on television," Haley said. "No other conference has come close to this kind of coverage, so we're thrilled. It is the best thing happening in our sport, right now. It's so important and so exciting."
Last season the Trojans finished 30-6 with a No. 4 ranking before losing to No. 3 Texas in the Austin regional NCAA match. Alexis Olgard, Natalie Hagglund, and Samantha Bricio make up part of the impressive returning cast for the Trojans and incoming freshman Ebony Nwanebu, recently awarded the 2012 Mizuno/Volleyball Magazine High School Player of the Year, is hoping to add to the already talented roster.
