Incoming Recruit Rico Hoey Wins Southern Section Title

USC incoming recruit Rico Hoey, one of the top-ranked prep players in the country, won the 2013 CIF Southern Section Boys' Golf Individual Championship on Monday (May 20) with a 3-under 69 at the La Purisima G.C. in Lompoc, Calif.

Hoey, who attends Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) High, edged La Quinta High's KiTaek Lee by one stroke for the title. The top 28 individual golfers and four teams advanced to the SGA regional qualifier on May 30 at Brookside G.C.

Hoey won at the 2012 Callaway Junior World Championship and the Junior Americas Cup. Hoey also finished seventh at the 2012 California State Open.
