USC men's tennis four-time national team champion and two-time NCAA singles king Steve Johnson will take on the famed terre battue at Roland Garros for the first time next week. Johnson, currently ranked No. 128 in the world, earned his way into the French Open through the qualifying draw.
Johnson drew veteran Spaniard Albert Montanes in the first round, and a win would set up a likely second round fixture with No. 4 David Ferrer. The doubles draw comes out Sunday, so no word yet on whether Johnson or his former Trojan teammate Robert Farah will be entered.
