The 2013 USC football team will feature a fresh quartet of captains. Matt Barkley, Khaled Holmes, T.J. McDonald and Nickell Robey are all moving on to Sunday football.
While Marqise Lee naturally steps into the role as the offensive leader, the defense requires a new voice, and maybe even more importantly, a physical enforcer. Enter Hayes Pullard...
The two-year starter has already made his mark tying for the team lead in tackles as a redshirt freshman (81) before passing the century mark (107) as a sophomore. But under Clancy Pendergast, Pullard will take over the Mike linebacker position serving as the central hub of communication and a downhill playmaker.
Listed at 6-foot-1 and 235 pounds, Pullard may not have the statuesque build of his Trojan linebacker brethren, but as you can see from the clip below in which he takes down 300-pound OT Aundrey Walker, he is more than willing to set a physical tone for this defense.
