We don't often spotlight Bruins on this blog, but Jackie Robinson made a legacy out of being the exception to the rule.
As a four-sport star at UCLA, he became a key player in the Crosstown Rivalry, including the 1939 classic which ended in a 0-0 tie. The game was played in front of 103,303 people at the Coliseum, a rivalry attendance record at the time.
The Trojans held off the Bruins when Bobby Robertson batted down a 4th-and-goal pass with less than five minutes to play. USC went on to shutout Tennessee in the Rose Bowl to win the fourth and final national championship of the Howard Jones era.
