USC Shows Well At Tyson Invitational

Several members of the USC women's track and field team competed this weekend at the Tyson Invitational indoor meet at Randal Tyson Track Complex in Fayetteville, Ark. Among the standouts at the two-day meet (Feb. 8-9) held on the University of Arkansas campus were senior Alitta Boyd and juniors Jessica Davis and Ashley Liverpool.
Boyd placed third in the women's triple jump invite competition with a best jump of 42-5.75 (12.95m) and sophomore teammate Melia Cox took sixth with a jump of 41-5.50. Boyd also placed fourth in the women's long jump invite with a leap of 20-5.25 (6.23m).
Davis had an indoor season best of 23.79 to finish in ninth place in the women's 200m race and Liverpool had a time of 54.98 to take 12th place in the women's 400m race. Sophomores Vanessa Jones (21st, 55.54) and Akawkaw Ndipagbor (22nd, 55.54) also were among the top runners in the 400m race.
Another impressive result was the women's 4x400m relay team of Jones, Ndipagbor, freshman Jaide Stepter and Liverpool which placed third in the women's college race with a time of 3:38.40.
