Now a true freshman at Troy, she might be just what USC needs to get over the top after losing the NCAA title match to Stanford last season. "She will make all our players better," head coach Jovan Vavic said of Espar. "Anni understands the game of water polo better than most players I've coached. She's a very unique player. She's tough, she works hard and she's fast."
Espar will certainly not be asked to carry the load with USC returning five All-Americans, but she proved capable of greatness at the highest level by bagging a hat trick in gold medal match. With Espar joining a veteran core, the always bold Jovan Vavic has made it clear that this team can accomplish anything.
"We definitely have the tools and the players and we are more talented than last year," Vavic said. "This team is definitely a contender."
