- With the seniors practicing on campus for the final time, interim head coach Clay Helton let the boys have some fun. They all swapped jerseys so big guys were squeezing into small uniforms, and little guys were swamped by big numbers.
- Plus, several of the seniors were carried off the field. OG John Martinez was lifted on the shoulders of two teammates, while RB Silas Redd was given a piggy-back ride by his fullback Soma Vainuku.
- When they were on the field, Helton said the practice was focused and energetic. The team is excited and ready to depart for Las Vegas.
- Saturday is a big day for Helton, but too big for his mom to handle. "I don't think mom can take it," said Helton, who offered to fly her out for the game to see him as head coach. "'There's no way I can do it,'" she told her son. "'I'm going to watch it on TV. I'd be too nervous.'" He did say that she has been constantly texting him throughout the buildup to the game.
