USC sophomore defensive end Leonard Williams was named a semifinalist for the Chuck Bednarik Award, which is given annually to the nation's top defensive player. Of note, 15 of the 16 semifinalists are juniors or seniors with Williams as the lone exception.
Williams is on track to become the first defensive lineman to lead USC in tackles since Mike McGirr in 1971. He has 53 tackles on the season including a team-leading 10 for loss.
