Junior Katinka Hosszu was beaten by just .03 seconds in the 200y IM by Cal's Caitlin Leverenz. Both swimmers bested the NCAA and American record in the process.
Anderson on winning NCAAs at her weaker event: "I wouldn't say this was unexpected, but it's definitely not my main race. To come out here on the first day and do well in the 500, it was really exciting."
Ishimatsu on executing under pressure: "(Heading into the final dive) I knew that I could get it, which was the best feeling, but then as I got toward the end and I was standing on the end of the board I was a little bit more nervous than I expected to be. But I executed my dive well."
Ishimatsu was mobbed by her teammates in celebration.
