Harberts and Fontan Named USC Student-Athletes of the Week

LOS ANGELES - Cassie Harberts of women's basketball and Jio Fontan of men's basketball were named USC Student-Athletes of the Week on Monday, Dec. 17 for the week of Dec. 10-16.
Women's Basketball: USC junior forward Cassie Harberts continued her stellar play this week, as she led the team with 19 points and eight rebounds in a loss to No. 23 Texas A&M. Harberts' 19 points continues her streak of scoring in double figures in every game the Women of Troy have played this season. She also opened the year with three consecutive double-double performances. On the season, Harberts is averaging 16.9 points and 8.3 rebounds per game to lead the team in both categories. She also has a team-high 12 blocks on the year. Harberts has started every game of her career since setting foot at Troy.
Men's Basketball: Redshirt senior guard Jio Fontan led the Trojans to a 76-20 victory over visiting UC Riverside on Saturday afternoon. Fontan tied for the team lead in points with 14, coming off 5-of-6 shooting from the field and was 3-of-3 from behind the three-point arc. He also pulled down five rebounds, a career high for him as a Trojan. As the team's floor general, Fontan passed out a team-high six assists. Fontan and his teammates also put together a record-setting defensive effort for the Trojans, as they held the Highlanders to 19 percent shooting from the field, marking the lowest output for a USC opponent in school history.
