Samoan football heritage has become a part of Trojan tradition.
From Junior Seau to Troy Polamalu to Rey Maualuga, the USC Polynesian lineage dates back decades and continues today with Christian Tupou (among others) as the team's motivational voice.
In the offseason, USC running backs coach Kennedy Polamalu and his famous nephew Troy led a group featuring several Trojans (Maualuga, "Deuce" Lutui, Lenny Vandermade, Justin Mesa and Eric Espinoza) to coach a football camp in Samoa for over 800 kids.
