USC great Rebecca Soni was named 2011 FINA World Championships Female Swimmer of the Meet after winning three gold medals and one bronze at the recently concluded international event.
Soni swept her specialties, the 100-meter and 200-meter breaststrokes, and also earned a bronze in the 50m breast. In addition, she swam the breaststroke leg in the United States' dominating 400m medley relay win that set an American record. It was her leg (the second) that provided the U.S. with a big cushion for the second half of the race.
In the 50m breast on Sunday, Soni took third in 30.58. She finished behind Trojan Club teammates Jessica Hardy (30.19) and Yuliya Efimova (30.49).
