Katinka Hosszu, the NCAA's top swimmer in 2011, will lead a large contingent of Trojans competing at the upcoming 2011 FINA Swimming World Championships in Shanghai, China, July 24-31.
Other current Trojans joining Hosszu (representing Hungary) in China will be Haley Anderson (U.S.), Stina Gardell (Sweden) and Vladimir Morozov (Russia). Incoming freshman Chad Bobrosky (Canada) is also competing.
Hosszu, a 2009 World Championships gold medalist in the 400m IM, was three NCAA and Pac-10 titles as a 2011 junior and earned the Honda Sports Award for swimming. Anderson, Gardell and Morozov were, like Hosszu, All-Americans in 2011. Anderson was also a Pac-10 champion. Anderson, competing in the Open Water portion of the championships, swims on July 23.
Also representing the Cardinal and Gold in China will be Trojan greats Rebecca Soni and Ous Mellouli. Both are 2008 Olympic and 2009 World Championships gold medalists.
Results will be available here and here. World Championships coverage can also be found on Universal Sports-NBC Universal.
A host of Trojans will later compete at the 2011 World University Games in Shenzhen, China, in August, including Anderson, Lyndsay DePaul, Elaine Lim (Singapore), Richard Charlesworth (England) and Clement Lefert (France).
