The Learfield Directors' Cup was established in 1993 as a joint effort between The USA Today and the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) as a means of measuring on-field success for all NCAA Division I, Division II, Division III and NAIA schools.
The award is calculated by a points system, which determines rankings based on how each institution finishes in 20 respective sports (10 men's and 10 women's).
For the seventeenth straight season, Pac-12 rival Stanford took home the Directors' Cup, but USC did finish No.14 in the standings with 990.25 points (4th best in the conference).
The only other Division 1 school to win the award was North Carolina during the cup's inaugural year (1993-1994).
