While the offense emerged from the offseason at full strength save for Marc Tyler's suspension, the defense reported a pair of knee injuries, which will sideline redshirt freshman DB Patrick Hall and incoming freshman DE DeVante Wilson. Plus, Lane Kiffin announced that 2011 commit DE Steve Dillon has been granted a release from his letter-of-intent.
The head coach did not have anything new to report on DL Armond Armstead's condition, but he has not been ruled out for the season.
With the defensive line depth in question, Kiffin noted that Devon Kennard's move from middle linebacker to defensive end could be a huge factor this season as he works in with Nick Perry and Wes Horton.
Kennard was ranked the #1 high school defensive end in the nation by Rivals.com.
