USC #1 Steve Johnson rode a 35-match win streak through 2011 to help the Trojans claim the national team title and assert his supremacy as the best collegiate in the nation.Next up: The two steaks could actually collide as Johnson's NCAA singles crown comes with a ticket into the main draw at the U.S. Open in August, where he could possibly face Djokovic, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal or any of the game's greats.
Johnson could use a step up in class as his fellow collegiates have been no match for him lately. He did need three sets to polish off Tennessee's Rhyne Williams in the title match yesterday, but after dropping the first 4-6, he dusted the Vol 6-2, 6-1 to seize the trophy.
