Casey, Wright Drafted In Third Round

USC defensive tackle Jurrell Casey (Tennessee Titans) and cornerback Shareece Wright (San Diego Charges) became the second and third Trojan players selected in the 2011 NFL Draft on Friday (April 29) when they were picked in the third round with the 77th and 89th picks, respectively.
They joined offensive tackle Tyron Smith, who was selected as the ninth pick in the first round by the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday. With Smith, Casey and Wright, USC now has 467 NFL draftees.
Casey started for his second season at defensive tackle as a junior in 2010 and had a dominating season. Overall in 2010 while starting all 13 games, he had 67 tackles, including a team-best 11 for losses (with a team-best 4.5 sacks). He made the 2010 SI.com All-American honorable mention, All-Pac-10 first team, ESPN.com All-Pac-10 first team, Scout.com All-Pac-10 first team and Phil Steele All-Pac-10 first team. He also was named USC's team MVP and USC's Defensive Lineman of the Year.
Wright started all season at cornerback as a 2010 senior captain. Overall in 2010 while starting all 13 games, he had 73 tackles, including 7 for losses (with 2.5 sacks), plus a team-high 10 deflections, a team-high 2 fumble recoveries, 2 forced fumbles and 1 blocked field goal. He made the 2010 Scout.com All-Pac-10 second team and Phil Steele All-Pac-10 second team.
The NFL Draft concludes Saturday (April 30) with rounds 4 through 7.
