Marc Tyler (photo by John McGillen) enters spring as the presumed starter, although a hamstring injury on day one could open up reps for the young contenders. The senior totaled a team-leading 913 yards on the ground and 9 rushing TDs last season.After Tyler, Dillon Baxter is the only returning back who carried the ball in 2010. The soon-to-be sophomore is the most natural receiver of the bunch.
If Curtis McNeal can straighten himself out academically, he will contribute to this year's team as a versatile piece out of the backfield and on special teams. He looked sharp and explosive in practice today.
D.J. Morgan is the wild card. He has what Lane Kiffin calls "long speed," which means he does not get caught from behind often.
The Trojans had just 16 runs of 20+ yards last season (down from 21 in 2009), so Morgan brings the element of speed that could take USC's running game from methodical to explosive.
